Sixty-six-year-old year-old Robert Trudel cannot help himself from helping. After a career practicing law supporting social and community causes, Robert has spent his “retirement” travelling abroad leveraging his passion for human rights for the good of others.
His first Cuso International assignment was in Jamaica as a human rights consultant with Jamaicans for Justice. One of his fondest memories was travelling to Geneva with his Jamaican team to update the United Nations on the country’s human rights record.
What Robert loves most about his work abroad is “meeting everyone on the ground and seeing first hand the work they do. You really get to know the people who work tirelessly to help better the situation in their countries.”
Robert now lives in Victoriaville where he set up his own international cooperation program to sensitize people to international work. He plans to leave for another assignment this fall.
