“As an adult, I came to realize that small acts of giving can change someone’s entire life trajectory. I want to give. The act of giving brings me incredible joy and energy that I want to share,” said Nora on her volunteer application with Cuso International.
Nora’s life has been dedicated to serving others. A first-generation Canadian, with Mexican parents, Nora has worked with Vancouver’s most marginalized immigrant and refugee populations.
In 2013, she decided to take an opportunity with Cuso International and use her business skills to help Peruvian youth realize their potential. Nora spent 15 months working as an Employment and Small Business Advisor for the Lima Municipality.
However, her journey with Cuso International was not over. In 2017, she became the organization’s Volunteer Ambassador for the Vancouver area. Her role has been fundamental in increasing awareness of the importance of Canada’s role in international development.
