Involved in local activism in park preservation and with a long history of building recreational infrastructure in Squamish, B.C., John Harvey volunteers with youth, creating engaging projects to help build their future.
John believes much of his volunteerism today stems from the fact that he volunteered in Africa in 1981 for a year: “That simple, altruistic goal indicated a passion to give something of myself for sake of the greater good. My initiatives today reflect that same altruism; Cuso International continues to incubate the passions that change the world, one person at a time.”
He is currently involved in the Sea to Sky Synergy Project: Youth Justice Mentoring and Employment Initiative, working with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to help youth make meaningful changes in their lives. John is also working to build a campground providing opportunities for youth to gain work experience and contribute to the community.
